Miss Serena comes here on a roll but she needs to prove her effectiveness on turf and is overlooked in favour of UNAWATUNA ahead of Mith Hill. One of two three-year-old's in the line-up, the selection represents Kate Walton, perhaps better known for her jumpers (equine not cashmere). Whilst the filly's future may lie over obstacles, the way that she ran last time at Newcastle hinted that she can pick up a race on the level first and with a test of stamina up her alley, a big run looks on the cards. Thewhirlingdervish will soon be in Pontefract folklore territory along with Jamaican Flight and the old-timer is well-treated on old form, whilst Monolith is a course and distance winner but recent efforts have been poor. At The Money ran well here two starts back whilst Mr Crystal and Gallileo Figaro have bits of form that make them interesting if putting their best foot forward. Miss Serena chases the hat-trick and must be respected despite a career high mark of 67; however it is Unawatuna who gets our vote.
