      Verdict

      Phoenix Fire looked to have a chance in the 4.40 at Ayr yesterday. Do I Dream scored over the track and trip on soft ground in April and chased home Kitai, who runs earlier, at Carlisle. Hi Clare won on fast going here last month and was conceding 10lb when beaten just over a length at Bath. PATERNOSTER SQUARE couldn't peg back the odds-on Garden Route at Windsor but makes his handicap bow on what could prove a fair mark so gets the nod. Lerwick has been a beaten favourite in four starts since a promising debut at Ripon last August.
