Mudawin has needed the run in the past so despite holding obvious claims on the form book, we will pass him over for today and instead side with Folio ahead of the race-fit Lucayan Dancer and Fort Churchill. The selection has run some of his best races when returning from a break and Willie Musson's seven-year-old must hold solid claims in what looks an open contest. He handles all types of ground and assuming he is fit enough to get up the hill, he could go well at a decent price. Mudawin sprang a shock in the Ebor last season but usually takes a race or two to find his feet and this ten furlongs may not be enough of a stamina test for him. Fort Churchill will be suited by the step up in trip after a pipe-opener in the Spring Mile at Newcastle last week and should be staying on at the finish so has place claims at least, as does Tender Falcon if fit enough after a lengthy break. Best Prospect can go well but his mark of 96 looks a tad high, so of more interest may be course and distance winner Lucayan Dancer who should be fit and raring to go after two prep runs of late. A tricky contest to figure out and the market may provide some clues, however we will side with Folio to land the spoils.
