Though restricted to amateur riders, this is very competitive with three of the runners winners last time. Of that trio, Dogged is preferred to fellow hat-trick seeker Dandy's Angel and The New Marwan. Eireann Cagney partners the latter and is one of only two jockeys who can’t claim an allowance. The other is William Easterby but his mount Contrast has something to find with Dogged and JUST HISS on Beverley running. The latter looks best in at the weights today.
Dogged 5-1 (11-0) Made virtually all, driven over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, won at Beverley 1m 2f hcp (6) gs in Aug beating Just Hiss (11-4) by 1 1/2l, 11 ran.
Just Hiss 13-2 (11-4) Slow away, held up towards rear, hampered over 4f out, headway over 1f out, switched left inside final furlong, stayed on, went 2nd towards finish, unable to trouble winner, 2nd of 11, 1 1/2l behind Dogged (11-0) at Beverley 1m 2f hcp (6) gs in Aug.

The New Marwan 14-1 (10-12) Prominent on far rail early, chased leaders 2f out, led just inside 1f out, pushed along when hard pressed inside final 110 yards, kept on and always doing enough near finish, won at Wolverhampton 1m 1f hcp (6) pol in Jul beating Prince Ali (11-0) by nk, 13 ran.
