Academy runs well round here and can beat off competition from Toni Alcala and Red Sun. Although beaten five lengths by Red Sun on reappearance, that was an encouraging enough effort under the circumstances and with Chris Caitlin aboard, there is a lot to like about Andy Turnell's horse. Red Sun has since run well at Ripon - he has completed the trip round here before but has slight questionmarks about his ability to truly stay. We will know that detail at twenty past seven. Toni Alcala was once a habitual loser but has run well over the last few months. Riyadh ran encouragingly for a long way last time but cocked his jaw in the closing stages and consented not to win. Il Cavaliere has an interesting jockey booking and is fit from a spell over the sticks. He would be better with a bit more cut in the ground. Joely Green stays but rarely wins from promising positions. We vote for Academy in our second contest.
