A chance is taken with Sheer Bluff in the finale. Moonage Daydream and Koraleva Tectona are others to bear in mind, while Capone is an interesting one to note in the betting market. Koraleva Tectona was a wide-margin winner here in June and has to be respected on that form. He does appear to need firm ground to be at his best, though. So it is advisable to get an updated going description before wading in with Pat Eddery's charge. Moonage Daydream has held his form since winning at Redcar a couple of months ago. He seems versatile regarding the underfoot conditions and should again be capable of going close at this level. Capone is a lightly raced type that can improve for the test of stamina he will face today. A solid case can be made for him to at least make the frame. However, Sheer Bluff is a more interesting contender today. His trainer, David Elsworth, is a rare visitor to Pontefract and it is noteworthy the Newmarket handler sends Sheer Bluff up the A1 ahead of an easier looking race at Folkestone tomorrow. It remains to be seen if the gelding makes a quick reappearance but he is obviously ready to do himself justice wherever he races.
