New Pearl was impressive on debut at Newmarket but the runner-up's wide-margin defeat at Windsor on Monday has somewhat devalued the form. Johnny Murtagh's mount is still preferred to Kempton second Chilworth Icon and stablemate Luhaif, third at Haydock, though could struggle to better INDIAN JADE. Kevin Ryan's colt took a while to get organised on debut at Beverley but galloped relentlessly to the line and was going away at the finish. The extra furlong and uphill finish here should play to his strengths.
