SPANCHIL HILL is the pick in a modest contest with Its A Classic and Just Poppytee also likely to have their supporters. Jim Best has become something of a maker of silk purses from sow's ears and with this horse off a mark of 71 plus a penalty, he certainly has the eight-year-old at the right end of the handicap. Unfortunately for a horse with little in the way of winning form, the odds are likely to be unhelpfully short. Its A Classic has an absence to overcome. The jockey bookings suggest that he is probably first string of the Blockley contingent. Just Poppytee is exposed as ordinary though she did pick up a bad mares' race at the track with a degree of style. Colwyn Bay is still a maiden under National Hunt rules. Willow Hall exhibited his best form to date when third over course-and-distance in May. That said, it followed a number of lifeless displays earlier. Irish raider, Myfirstanonlylove has kept counsel against some fair novices in Ireland and she is one to note closely in the market today. Spanchil Hill gets the vote.
