Verdict

Universal Island didn't run at all badly on handicap debut here last month and has been nudged down 1lb by the assessor. She's only had three starts over timber and there should be more to come here, especially in receipt of so much weight all round. Beaufort West also ran perfectly well on his recent reappearance at this venue when a fair third to Warranty and looks one of the more likely ones with his useful conditional taking off a valuable 7lb. Milfolhas Has has only shown an inkling of form in maiden and novice hurdles but is one to note now handicapping. The vote goes to THE TIN MINER, who hasn't won for a while but has been admirably consistent - not out of the first four in his last ten starts - and he can gain due reward for his consistency in a not especially competitive contest.
