    Verdict

A modest race to start the card that can go to Oulton Broad, who ended last season on a high after winning a brace of races in similar company. There are a number of potential dangers and the likes of Gabor, Victory Sign and Beyond The Pole all have claims on the best of their form and are respected accordingly. However, Oulton Broad appears to have found a niche that suits him by racing at this level and he will be very hard to overhaul if he runs anywhere near his full capacity today. The trip and ground should not be a barrier to the selection and he is expected to have too much resilience for Gabor, who although he can be unreliable, appeals as the best of the rest today.
