In depth

Verdict

The second leg of the Triple Crown and the first three home in the Kentucky Derby lock horns once again. AMERICAN PHAROAH came out best at Churchill Downs when catching Firing Line in the closing stages with Dortmund back in third and has to be the selection on that form. But it will be no easy task for Bob Baffert's colt to land the odds as Gary Stevens will probably leave it later to make his challenge on Firing Line on this occasion and Dortmund, the long-time leader in the Derby, may prove tougher to pass over this shorter distance. Those three look a cut above the rest and should be fighting out the finish once again.
