Competitive fare and hard to choose between Get Out The Gate and Amalfi Doug who came home one-two here this month and are difficult to separate on the revised terms. The latter has since landed a sixth course success - he hasn't won anywhere else - and is 5lb higher as a result. He has to be on any shortlist. It's tempting to go with Get Out The Gate but THOMAS TODD looked to be going very much the right way until disappointing at Cartmel last month but is readily forgiven that run and could well bounce back here and continue on the upgrade. Juge Et Parti is in good heart at present but would probably prefer ground with at some cut at least.
Amalfi Doug (FR) 5-4fav (11-6) Made all, jumped well, pressed 3 out until flat, stayed on well, won at Perth 2m 4f hcp (3) sft in Jul beating Cracking Destiny (11-12) by 3 1/4l, 7 ran.
