Verdict

Several of these have chances in what looks an ultra competitive handicap including Dianne Sayer's Front Rank, a winner at Cartmel last month but now 8lb higher, Richard Fahey's Trumpstoo, who would probably want quicker ground, and Vinnes Friend, who represents the Gordon Elliott stable that has a fine record here, but the vote goes to a runner from another yard that does well here in LODGICIAN, who is trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies. The selection is 10lb higher than when scoring at Stratford last month but has run well in two starts since than and looks worth chancing for his in-form yard. Lucinda Russell's Quito Du Tresor is well treated on chase form but is better over the larger obstacles, while Jim Goldie's Regent's Secret has disappointed in recent outings on the flat and looks best watched back over timber. Reportage won well over course and distance last month but a 6lb rise since then makes this more difficult and preference is for Lodgician.
