In depth

Verdict

Getinbybutonlyjust has been consistent and is the pick, with Blackergreen and Jolika taken to give him most to do. This staying race for amateur riders is not the best of affairs to end on, but Getinbybutonlyjust was only touched off at Hexham last time when trying to give 11bs to the winner, and the step back up to three miles, a trip that he won over at Ayr in January, gives him leading claims. The trainer's daughter is on board, and one would assume that she knows plenty about him, although this is the first time that she has ridden him on the track. Blackergreen was third over a trip at Huntingdon and has enough stamina, while Joilka was pulled up at Ayr, but the softer ground will be in his favour. Themanfromcarlisle was in the process of running a big race when falling two out at Musselburgh, but he is a top-of-the-ground performer who will surely struggle under today's conditions, while Lady Past Times has it to do with the selection on recent Hexham running, so Getinbybutonlyjust is the pick.
