In depth

Verdict

It was soft ground when Dame Malliot won a Group 2 at Newmarket in July. Wonderful Tonight beat Valia and Laburnum when landing a Group 3 on a trip over to Deauville last month and the latter had earlier found Even So too good at Naas with Ger Lyon’s filly going on to win the Irish Oaks at the Curragh - she has leading claims on that form. Tarnawa returned to action with a Group 3 success for John Oxx at Cork while Grand Glory finished in front of Mashael when placed at Deauville. The latter’s stablemate Alkandora finished behind RAABIHAH at the same track last month and, a close-up fourth in the French Oaks earlier, Jean-Claude Rouget filly is fancied to go close in this as her trainer fancies her chances in next month’s Arc. She is expected to take another step forward today tackling 1m4f for the first time.
