    In depth

    Verdict

Aidan O’Brien bids to win this for the third time in succession and runs three. Derby winner SERPENTINE is partnered by Christophe Soumillon for his first outing since that wide-margin shock victory at Epsom when English King was back in fifth and stablemate Mogul further behind. The latter has subsequently won a Group 3 at Goodwood when Highland Chief finished runner-up with English King a disappointing fourth while Group 3 winner Nobel Prize makes up the Ballydoyle contingent. German Derby winner In Swoop has plenty of scope for further improvement though collateral form gives him something to find with French Derby fifth and subsequent Group 2 winner Port Guillaume, who also had the measure of Gold Trip at Saint-Cloud earlier.
