In depth

Verdict

Not too many can be seriously fancied despite the size of the field and the vote goes to Magic Music with Marshallspark, Prix Star and Dizzy In The Head as the main alternatives. The selection comes in to this in excellent form having shaped with plenty of promise following two placed efforts over course and distance this term. Heathor Dalton's charge was drawn on the wrong side on his seasonal return but still managed to finish a creditable fourth of 20 in a competitive handicap before being narrowly denied on a return visit to Colwick Park late last month. A low draw has proved to be an advantage on the straight course so Magic Music can be expected to head for the favoured far rail from stall 1 and should prove hard to beat. Marshallspark left previous efforts behind when a close runner-up over the minimum trip at Carlisle last time and will appreciate the extra furlong while Prix Star is on a winning mark and will be sharper for his recent Hamilton return so warrants consideration with Jamie Spencer booked. Dizzy In The Head shaped promisingly in the first time blinkers last time and has claims on the form of his two wins off similar marks last season.
