        Verdict

        The three-year-olds Master Archer and MELINOE have both improved since switched to handicaps and stepped up in trip. There probably isn’t much to choose between the pair on the form book and Sir Mark Prescott’s charge only gets the most tentative of votes. Of the older horses, Deinonychus is the only recent winner but that was here, though over 1m2f. However, he does stay further and Goldslinger was only beaten half-a-length at Chepstow last month over 1m4f. A few of the others may be warming up for a campaign over jumps.
