Verdict

Ambitious Icarus is the only course and distance winner in the line-up and shouldn't be dismissed despite a poor run on soft ground at Catterick. ARCTIC ANGEL (NAP) has scope to improve unlike most of these rivals and was unfortunate to bump into Deeds Not Words at Kempton as the winner has since gone on to complete a hat-trick. James Fanshawe's charge can go one better with just 2lb extra to carry. Soaring Spirits completed a hat-trick around this time last summer and has slowly dropped to a winnable mark so he should be monitored in the betting. Specialv hasn't run in a grade as low as this since scoring at Southwell in January of last year and has won two Class 5s subsequently.
