Verdict
Socialites Red is bidding for a fourth course and distance victory but has never won off a mark this high. Muscika won with a bit in hand at Ayr 10 days ago but this looks tougher under a penalty. Sheepscar Lad has done all of his winning over 5f and looks too high in the weights now but Red Pike found only one too good when well backed at Ayr last month and is still nicely treated on last year’s form. Clive Cox has his string firing on all cylinders and DARK POWER has achieved both victories to date over this track and trip. He wasn’t unduly punished on his reappearance at Newbury and drops down a grade for this. Barrington was joint favourite at Thirsk last month but only beat one home and has become disappointing.
