James Fanshawe holds a strong hand here with Firenze and Riotous Applause, and it is the latter that gets the nod, with Blue Echo, Sacre Coeur and Perfect Story making for an interesting affair. Riotous Applause has been very lightly raced, having had just one outing last season. That resulted in her beating the more experienced Vortex in a conditions event at Yarmouth, since when she has been kept under wraps. Hopefully she will now begin to make up for lost time, and is taken to see off her stablemate Firenze who might not be as forward and who will be all the better for the run. Blue Echo and Sacre Coeur get weight off their older rivals, and the latter, a Goodwood maiden winner last year, is of particular interest as John Dunlop's runners often show marked improvement in their second season. Perfect Story is better known for her all-weather exploits, but flew home in second when giving lumps of weight to the winner at Leicester, and could reach the frame again. However, we are happy to side with Riotous Applause.
