chased winner, ridden and every chance 2f out, not quicken inside final furlong
chased leaders, every chance 2f out, soon ridden, not quicken inside final furlong
keen, in touch, ridden 3f out, stayed on towards finish
made all, ridden over 2f out, ran on
always behind
A few of these have questions to answer including the selection, Shot To Fame, who is not the most consistent of performers but, is still marginally preferred to Ancient World and Narrative as he has at least proved himself to be in great heart at present after registering a fully deserved success at Kempton last month. Maghanim has obviously had his problems over the years and was entitled to need his reappearance run to put him straight. However, he did hang badly when he raced at Goodwood and may be best watched if there is little support for him this time around. Whereas Soprano and Jalouhar have a fair bit to find in this company and are overlooked here. Narrative is a game performer who is interesting now that he is running for his own purposes instead of being used as a pacemaker for the likes of Highdown etc. He should go well for a long way but may lack the toe to be truly effective at this trip Therefore, Ancient World is expected to pose the selection the biggest threat if he has come on from his reappearance and handles the ground. However, Shot To Fame did win with a little in hand last time and is given another chance to prove himself on what are slightly more favourable terms than if he were meeting a few of these in a handicap.
