In depth

Verdict

It's difficult to knock the consistency of Spot The Ball and 7lb claimer Maurice Linehan has already ridden the gelding to victory at Towcester and Southwell this year. The top weight should be in the firing-line again but it's highly significant that David Pipe sends out TERFEL'S TOSCAR again so quickly after a much-improved second over 2m6f here last Saturday. The extra distance should be in his favour and, as the handicapper hasn't had time to put him up in the weights for that effort, the seven-year-old should prove hard to beat. Kasimali was a close-up third over this trip at Fontwell earlier this month but that was a weak affair and he'll do well to make the frame again here, while Hereford third Cherry Vine isn't improving. El Diego has been chasing but stays well and could claim a place off his current mark.
