Verdict

An interesting classified event with a couple of unexposed types taking on more experienced rivals and Wunderwood gets the vote ahead of Pagan Dance, Impeller and Shuhood. The Lady Herries-trained gelding made a winning debut on the Flat when scooping a Lingfield maiden over this trip in January and showed he is on the upgrade when making all in a minor event at Nottingham last time. The four-year-old impressed with a willing attitude to defeat a useful yardstick in the latter event and looks capable of further progress so should prove hard to beat with conditions in his favour. Pagan Dance takes a slight drop in grade after running well in competitive fields at Newmarket and Kempton this term but tended to carry his head awkwardly under pressure last time. Amanda Perrett's charge looks a difficult ride and faces no easy task under top weight while Impeller has put up a couple of respectable efforts of late but has stamina doubts over this longer trip. Shuhood made a winning debut at Yarmouth in September and hasn't been seen since but is well related and is open to further improvement so has to be respected despite the lack of a recent outing.
