      Verdict

Maiden winner Makzeem returned a disappointing favourite on his first start since July at Doncaster last week and Father Bertie was expected to do better at Leicester during the week but could only manage third. The latter had finished ahead of Jack's Revenge and Two For Two at Haydock before that. Shady Mccoy and Mount Tahan failed to build on earlier placed efforts on their latest outings while Greenside has not race since April. ILLUSTRISSIME (NAP) only raced on the all-weather when trained in France and won at Deauville. But he made a promising start on Turf when third at Pontefract for new connections and finishing ahead of In The Red. It’s reasonable to assume there is more to come on this surface and he gets the vote.
