Richard Fahey trained last year’s winner and runs two in this. Clef is the more exposed but won nicely over track and trip a fortnight ago and is up 9lb while Andok left a good impression when making a winning start at Redcar. Second Nature opened his account in a maiden at Nottingham and steps up in trip but it could pay to stick with RODAINI (NAP). He remains unbeaten having defied a penalty in a match on the Turf at Lingfield last time and Simon Crisford’s colt may well take up an entry in next month’s Mill Reef Stakes if successful in this competitive handicap.
Rodaini (USA) 4-6fav (9-9) Slowly into stride, tracked sole rival, led well over 3f out, drew clear inside final furlong, easily, won at Lingfield 7f stks (5) gf in Aug beating Matthioli (9-2) by 4 1/2l, 2 ran.
Second Nature 16-1 (9-5) Made all, ridden over 1f out, driven and ran on, won at Nottingham 6f mdn stks (5) gd in Jul beating Bellevarde (9-0) by 1/2l, 10 ran.
Clef 5-1 (8-3) Tracked leader, led just inside final furlong, ridden and ran on, won at Newmarket 7f fll (2) gf in Aug beating High On Love (8-12) by 3l, 8 ran.
Andok (IRE) 5-1 (9-5) Held up, headway when not clear run over 2f out, squeezed through to challenge over 1f out, led approaching final furlong, ran on well, won at Redcar 7f mdn stks (5) gf in Jul beating Kings Gift (9-5) by 2 1/4l, 12 ran.
