    Verdict

In a style typical of one from his yard, ALCAEUS continues to defy the handicapper with each step up in distance and made it four in a row at Yarmouth last time. He's up another 5lb but Sir Mark Prescott has not been tempted to make use of an apprentice's allowance so there may well be more to come. Divergence hails from last year's winning stable but will need to improve on her latest third at Ripon while Pivotal Silence steps up a grade off a higher mark after scoring on the Polytrack. Recent winner Duke Of Yorkshire looks the chief danger as White Month has a bit to find with the selection.
