Verdict

Aidan O’Brien bids to win this for a third time in succession but Ontario came up short in a Group 2 at the Curragh last time and more is needed. GEAR UP kept finding a bit more to win the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York having looked outpaced at one stage and this extra distance will suit on that evidence. He's just preferred to New Mandate, who also won over 7f when landing a Listed event at Doncaster. Frankie keeps the partnership intact while Cobh scored over today’s trip in Listed company at Salisbury. Pleasant Man made a winning debut in soft ground at Haydock but steps up in class.
