A small turnout for this valuable handicap but it is still very competitive, Alshawmeq and Maclean hold very strong claims, but we will side with Tableau. This son of Marquetry had shaped quite well on his seasonal bow at Doncaster at March and despite the long holiday, put up a very good front running performance to beat some decent types at Leicester last time. There is scope for further improvement and he could improve past these more exposed types. Alshawameq finished fifth in what looked a stronger event over course and distance last time and should go close despite top-weight of nine stone seven. Maclean appeared not to stay the ten furlongs at Salisbury last time and is better judged on his previous third over course and distance. Momtic and Hazewind come here in good heart and should also take a hand in the finish, but in what is a very tricky contest Tableau may just have the edge.
