An interesting contest where a lengthy short list comprises of Baronovici, Baldemar, Birkintastic, Edge Of Gold, Rose Siog, Geestring and Hobson, and the vote goes to Geestring. Richard Hannon's filly was awarded the race by the stewards at Newbury last time, at the expense of Edge Of Gold, and it is true that there is little to choose between them. However, Geestring looked to just have the more scope for improvement and can defy being 2lb worse off to confirm that form. Baronovici perhaps had more in hand than the two lengths suggested at Windsor and handles any ground, so is very much respected and the same goes for Rose Siog, who was a comfortable Musselburgh winner, though this race looks a fair bit tougher. Hobson comes from a yard in form and the step up to 6f will suit and can elicit further improvement, Baldemar is interesting after a 6f Ripon win last time but will need to step up. Even so, his yard is red hot so don't rule him out, while Birkintastic performed with credit on debut and plenty more is expected this time. Notebooks at the ready then for a cracking contest where Geestring gets the nod.
