In depth

Verdict

Charlie Farnsbarns, Kay Gee Be and River Tarrant are three to consider in a tricky maiden and Charlie Farnsbarns is taken to go one better. Kay Gee Be is a son of Fasilyev and he was made the even money favourite to land his maiden debut at Ayr, but was run out of it close home to finish a close third. That was a decent effort and he can improve for it. Peter Chapple-Hyam took the Norfolk Stakes yesterday with Dutch Art, and his debutant River Tarrant is respected. By Compton Place he is bred for speed, and any market move should be heeded. Charlie Farnsbarns is likely to be better for his experience at Newbury, where he showed plenty of pace, and having been headed, kept on gamely to be a good second. That was a very good display in what looked a decent contest and Charlie Farnsbarns can lead home a good field.
