      Verdict

A particularly tough renewal of this prestigious contest with several leading contenders including Nayyir. Gerard Butler's lightly raced gelding has quickly developed in to a smart performer this season and put up his best performance when landing a Group 3 contest at Glorious Goodwood in August. The four-year-old has not been disgraced over inadequate trips in Group 1 sprints since and is sure to make his presence felt with conditions to suit. Firebreak comes here in top form following a comfortable victory over this trip last month while Demonstrate is on the upgrade and shouldn't be dismissed lightly after a recent handicap success over course and distance. Redback is a consistent type who was third in the 2,000 Guineas and will make a bold bid from the front but was slightly flattered last time when runner-up in the Celebration mile after dictating a slow pace and may struggle to confirm the placings with stablemate Reel Buddy. The latter was forced to make up a lot of ground from the rear in a race that wasn't run to suit and with a stronger pace would surely have prevailed. The four-year-old has been a model of consistency this term scoring on four occasions including at Group 3 level and his potent turn of foot makes him an attractive each way TEAMtalk selection in an open race.
