The Michael Jarvis-trained Fruhlingssturm has been highly tried of late but has ground conditions to suit today and might be worth a small investment in a tricky finale where Alkaadhem and Sights On Gold are rated the main dangers. The selection has been largely frustrating this term but it may be that he needs a soft surface to show his best form and in a wide-open race he might be worth a bet. Neither Alkaadhem nor Sights On Gold are yet to show that they are as good on a softer surface as a good one and, away from the selection, there are plenty of runners with each-way claims. Sir Michael Stoute's Imperial Stride has not been seen since finishing fourth of five behind Haafhd in the Craven Stakes and it will be interesting to see whether he can begin to make up for lost time. Fong's Thong looked an interesting recruit to Brian Meehan's string earlier in the season but his bubble has been burst of late and of more interest may be the Mark Tompkins-trained Lincoln winner Babodana, who should not mind the conditions. With David Elsworth's stable in such good form at present, Skidmark has to be respected along with stablemates Pawn Broker and Spanish Don, while the lightly raced Ecomium is another from an in-form yard. However, Fruhlingssturm has conditions to suit for the first time since winning at Epsom in June and he gets the vote.
