A competitive but open race in which nothing makes any great appeal. Arctic Cape is the suggestion but stablemate Governor Elliot could go well as may Timber Creek. The selection hasn't built on the promise of his juvenile season but the form of his penultimate effort doesn't read too badly and we're prepared to excuse him a modest performance at Ascot. He has run well on the two occasions that he's been partnered by Richard Hills, should handle the ground and is well treated if able to get back on track. Governor Elliot returned a beaten favourite on his first two starts and didn't live up to expectations. He's been given plenty of time and may yet be able to deliver although Alan Munro is nought from four for the yard in recent seasons. Timber Creek has been finishing well from off the pace at Kempton of late and could get into the shake-up if producing a similar performance back on grass. Rain Stops Play is chucked in if he can ever bounce back but Last Sovereign comes here on the back of a decent effort and has leading claims with Dettori successful on two of his three mounts for the yard. He'll probably be short enough given the nature of this race though so we'll play the joker and suggest Arctic Cape.
