Brian Meehan has his string in fine fettle at present so Dahaam has to be respected but he has yet to race as a three-year-old or a handicap and may be best watched first time up this term with a bigger danger looking to be the William Haggas-trained Kalk Bay, who won well enough at Chepstow in a maiden last time and makes his handicap debut today off a mark of 74. Preference though is for Roger Charlton's YABTREE, who was a good winner over course and distance in June, has run well in two subsequent starts since then and he looks worth backing to resume winning ways. David Elsworth's Flighty Frances has struggled in handicaps since winning her maiden at Wolverhampton in April, while Robert Cowell's Marosh has been knocking on the door but is probably too high in the weights. Yes Chef has shown improved form in recent starts and he should be thereabouts again but a better bet looks to be Yabtree.
