AFONSO DE SOUSA was the less fancied of Ballydoyle's two runners on his debut at The Curragh but stayed on nicely in the closing stages having been outpaced at halfway. Today's better ground should help, as should the extra furlong, and the Henrythenavigator colt, who is a half-brother to Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown, has entries in all the top races. He can make his experience count here though there are a number of potentially exciting newcomers in opposition. It's interesting that Mickael Barzalona partners 200,000gns yearling Improvisation in preference to Requested, who finished third on his debut at Haydock. Likewise, Hanagan rides John Gosden's Ghurair instead of the experienced Khudoua while it could be worth keeping an eye on Abraq, Country Western and Mirsaale for future reference.
