In depth

Verdict

This really is as tough as it comes for punters but Willie Mullins saddled the 1-2 last year and Ireland’s champion NH trainer arrives mob-handed again. Great White Shark won a premier handicap for amateur riders at the Galway Festival but Great Trango reversed that form over hurdles at the same meeting a few days later. Stratum landed the odds in another amateurs’ race at Killarney in August but has also been beaten over timber since. BUILDMEUPBUTTERCUP can see Frankie Dettori complete the Autumn Double having ridden the winner of the Canbridgeshire two weeks ago. She finished ahead of a few of these when second in the Ascot Stakes in June and made the fast-improving Kastasa, a Group 3 winner since, pull out all the stops over 1m5f at Leopardstown last month. Mr Everest beat a big field at Naas around this time last year and has been very lightly campaigned this season. He won over hurdles in August and has probably been laid out for this. Sneaky Getaway and Party Playboy further strengthen the Irish challenge and Who Dares Wins beat Dubawi Fifty when winning the Northumberland Plate having finished second earlier in the Chester Cup. He was an honourable fourth in the Prix Du Cadran at ParisLongchamp last week but this may come too soon. There are four three-year-olds bidding to become the first from their age group to win in 10 years but all carry penalties. Land Of Oz may be the pick of the quartet but Sir Mark Prescott also runs the prolific Timoshenko.
