The 2009 renewal of the Bunbury Cup has attracted 20 runners and out of the masses CAPTAIN BRILLIANCE appeals the most marginally ahead of Giganticus and Mutheeb. Hailing from the Newmarket stable of Jermey Noseda the selection returned from a near two-year absence to land a strong race over course and distance last time. That was his first start in the handicap ranks and he should be able to handle the extra eight pounds added to his back especially with Johnny Murtagh booked for the ride. Giganticus is looking to follow up on a success in similar company last time and has a pretty decent strike rate. It's been a while since he won off a mark this high but another big performance will have him close. Godolphin's Mutheeb found Giganticus three lengths too good on there last meeting but should be closer with the terms swinging in his favour. Michael Bell's Redford also should be more of a match for Giganticus this time on these terms and could reverse the result but out in front of them all should be Captain Brilliance.
