Verdict

A number of improving stayers in opposition such as Strength 'n Honour, Dalaram and Gold Medallist but narrow preference is for Discreet Brief. John Dunlop's filly has a most progressive profile and, having finished strongly to be placed in a Listed event in Germany and a Group 3 contest in Italy last time out, she looks sure to take plenty of beating at this level. The daughter of Darshaan has been crying out for the step up to two miles after putting in all her best work at the finish over a mile-and-a-half and looks tailor made for this under Pat Eddery. Strength 'N Honour was predictably outclassed in the Derby and also had his limitations exposed at Royal Ascot last time but promises to do better over this trip and appears the main danger according to official BHB ratings. There is little between Gold Medallist and Dalaram on their running in last month's Queen's Vase and both are respected but may prove vulnerable to the highly progressive Discreet Brief who may be capable of even better still over this trip.
