      Verdict

The maiden winner STOWELL finished a fine third in the Queen’s Vase at Ascot last month and further progress is expected from the Gosden’s colt in this. He finished ahead of Dancing King last time while the latter’s stablemate Gear Up also ran at Ascot though could only manage fifth and would prefer some cut in the ground. Yibir is upped in distance having been beaten in a series of Derby trials this year though his second at Goodwood to subsequent Irish Derby runner-up Lone Eagle looks better in hindsight. Winning handicapper Pleasant Man has plenty to find at this level and dual novice winner Mandoob is another upped in class.
