In depth

Verdict

In a race where there is little to go on, we will side with Conquest ahead of Sonny Red and Winning Spirit. A 135,000 guineas son of Invincible Spirit, Conquest is interesting on his debut, and Silver Hotspur, whose dam is a half-sister to a French Guineas winner, cost 50,000 guineas and also attracts some interest on breeding. Add to that list the 26,000 guineas son of Redback, Sonny Red, whose trainer Richard Hannon has always to be respected in these types of races. The Illies did not show too much on his debut, so you'll have to forgive the 70,000 guineas son of Fasliyev that run if supporting him, while Winning Spirit, a 50,000 guineas son of Invincible Spirit, also makes it onto the list of possibles. The market might provide clues with regard to the others - indeed to all of them - and our advice is to pay some heed to it but, without that knowledge, we will give the vote to Conquest.
