Whoever coined the phrase "the bigger the field, the bigger the certainty" obviously had not considered a race of this nature but there is a winner lurking somewhere in the 29-strong field and the vote goes to Bayeux, who gets the vote ahead of One More Round and Zowington. The last mentioned made a winning return at Epsom last month and, with improvement to come for the run, Chris Wall's colt obviously has to be respected. Banjo Patterson is highly regarded by his connections and should strip fitter for his recent return at Yarmouth, while Mutamared made a winning reappearance at Lingfield last month but has more to do back on turf today. Idle Power and Swinbrook would probably want a softer surface and a bigger threat is likely to come from One More Round, who looks to be going the right way. The vote though goes to Bayeux, who has been in progressive form on the sand of late and is taken to make a winning return to turf off what looks a fair mark.
