Mark Johnston has had a good week so Love Oasis is respected here. She won over this trip at Leicester in June and has only found one too good in her last three starts, though is edging up the weights again. FIREFRIGHT (NAP) looked one to follow when quickening smartly to score at Doncaster last month. He’s been raised 6lb for that but should be capable of defying the extra. Clear Spring might not be the force of old but has dropped to a fair mark and Moonraker has been placed off higher marks this year. Mont Kiara and Ice Lord are both capable of playing a part if in the mood.
Ice Lord (IRE) 9-1 (9-7) Hampered start, in rear, never a factor, 7th of 8, 6 1/4l behind Makzeem (9-5) at Newmarket 7f hcp (2) gs in Jun.
Firefright (IRE) 5-4fav (9-3) Broke well, took keen hold, tracked leaders, led just over 1f out, edged left and clear inside final furlong, readily, won at Doncaster 7f hcp (3) gd in Jul beating Athassel (9-5) by 2 1/4l, 8 ran.
Moonraker 5-1 (9-8) Held up in rear in stands side group, pushed along over 2f out, soon carried right, never dangerous, 9th of 11, 7 1/4l behind Lightning Charlie (9-7) at Ascot 6f hcp (3) gd in Jul.
Clear Spring (IRE) 5-1 (9-5) In rear, pushed along and headway over 1f out, nearest finish, 4th of 10, 2 1/2l behind Sir Billy Wright (9-2) at Thirsk 6f hcp (3) gd in Jul.
Captain Lars (SAF) 25-1 (9-0) Held up towards rear, ran wide on bend over 3f out, soon lost place and eased, last of 11, 22 1/4l behind Mazzini (9-7) at Chelmsford City 6f hcp (3) pol in Jul.
Mont Kiara (FR) 16-1 (8-12) Race towards near side, chased leaders, ridden and weakened over 1f out, last of 14, 6 1/4l behind Shamshon (9-1) at Newmarket 5f hcp (2) gd in Jul.
Zamjar 10-1 (9-4) In touch, ridden and weakened over 1f out, 9th of 11, 10 3/4l behind Goodwood Crusader (9-9) at Newmarket 6f hcp (4) gf in Jun.
Love Oasis 5-2 (9-5) Led early, tracked winner, ridden and every chance inside final furlong, kept on and well held towards finish, 2nd of 5, 1 3/4l behind Secret Potion (8-5) at Bath 6f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
Swiss Cross (10-12) won at Les Landes 5f hcp gd in Jul beating Country Blue (10-2) by 4l, 5 ran.
