    In depth

    Formwatch

Afterjacko (IRE) Plenty of stamina if he is fully wound up but his fitness has to be taken on trust after over a year on the sidelines. The fact that all his winning form has come on firmer ground is also a negative.

Garden Society (IRE) Never really got into things in the Cesarewitch last time and although this smaller field may bring about a better effort he still has questions to answer with regard to the trip.

Give Notice Meets Distant Prospect on 3lb better terms than he did in the Cesarewitch and is still relatively fresh after only five outings this term. Yet to win off a mark this high put he should not be too far away if he runs up to his best.

Distant Prospect (IRE) Very game winner of the Cesarewitch last time out and should make a bold bid from only a 4lb higher mark. The more rain the better for him and although he was tying up in the closing stages he should make a bold bid to follow up.

Turtle Valley (IRE) Dropping to a favourable mark and should handle the underfoot conditions, one to consider at a fair price.

Rafiya Stepping up in trip and has a little to prove on softer than ideal ground.

L'Evangile Slightly disappointing that she failed to get the better of Alakanada last time and is another trying this trip for the first time. Others preferred.

Anniversary Plenty of promise in her first two outings but she ran an unaccountably bad race at Ascot last month. Probably best watched.

High Tension (USA) Returned to the track at Kempton in late September after three years off the track, he should strip fitter for the outing but is impossible to fancy strongly in this company.

Jamaican Flight (USA) Game front runner who acts on any ground but his losing run stretches back to July 1999 and it is more than likely going to continue here.

Discerning Open to improvement and may surprise a few if on song. However, she may have to settle for a minor role again here.

Compton Commander He defiantly has plenty of ability but he is running out of excuses after some luckless efforts, but he is not without a chance if he avoids trouble in running. The step up in trip may well bring about some improvement though; one for the list
