      Verdict

As usual with Newmarket maidens, a watchful eye should be kept on the betting market as local confidence can often speak volumes when it is matched in the betting ring here. However, Silent Hawk posted a pleasing effort on his solitary start last season and is tentatively forwarded as the selection in what may turn out to be a good race to follow in the coming weeks. Others to consider include: Denounce, a well-bred sort who should make an impact at a mile if he runs to his family profile, Rehearsal, who is also bred to get a trip, and Credit an expensive purchase who at least has the benefit of a previous run behind him and he is given sound each way claims at the likely prices. Coronation Stakes entry Nassiria is respected out of the newcomers and he is defiantly one to monitor in the betting out of the newcomers. However, they may all have to go some to peg back Silent Hawk, whose pedigree, being a good mixture of speed and stamina, may give him the edge as things unfold today.
