Verdict

Wilful was a useful two-year-old for Mark Johnston last season and should prove too strong for these with Delsarte and Splendid Era proving the biggest dangers. The selection was placed behind Van Nistelrooy in a good contest at the Curragh last season having previously won well at Doncaster. A close up second behind 2000 Guineas hopeful Lateen Sails in a private trial at Nad Al Sheba he should have too much class his for less experienced rivals here. Delsarte was raced just the once and obviously has scope for improvement though whether he will be ready first time out stepping up in class remains to be seen. Splendid Era ran a fine race behind Hurricane Alan in the Craven at Newmarket earlier this month despite showing signs of inexperience. He should have improved for that run and should give the selection most to do.
