Red Verdon has been a grand servant to connections and showed he was still capable of decent form when fifth in a Group 3 earlier this month though didn't run as well in the Jockey Club Stakes here on Friday. Sir Rumi was only fourth when Dark Jedi finished runner-up to Enemy, unlucky in the Sagaro Stakes earlier this week, at Musselburgh but the better ground here will aid his cause and he holds Soapy Stevens on that run. Revolver boasts a terrific strike-rate but might need this and easy Salisbury winner Cemhaan makes more appeal as he is probably still well treated, despite the penalty. Golden Flame did well last year but was a long way behind VALLEY FORGE in the Melrose at York in August before surprisingly reversing that form at Haydock. Andrew Balding’s gelding is the pick of the weights this time.
