A poor race from a quality perspective and Jacksons Pier is narrowly preferred to Sound Of Cheers and Ravenscar. It's a long old journey to Newcastle for Michael Scudamore so the hint is taken and we are aboard. Time may tell that his second placing behind Seymar Lad was a good one as that rival had his ground and a helpful handicap mark at Southwell. Sound Of Cheers needs no introduction to followers of the Northern scene. He holds few secrets from the handicapper and should run his race. Ravenscar had little chance in better grade over hurdles at Doncaster and is given a more realistic assignment today. Day Du Roy is an infrequent winner but looks place material again. Dawn Ride has not shown much of late but is worth more than a cursory glance in the betting if there is any confidence. This isn't a race that will take much in the way of winning and we side with Jacksons Pier.
