In depth

Verdict

Ashmal has the blinkers on for the first time and whilst she is certainly not the most reliable of betting options, this does look a weak maiden and she is fancied to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking; King Of Rhythm and Optical Illusion make up the shortlist. Connections will be disappointed with the career of Ashmal so far but this looks the easiest task that she has faced so far. The Machiavellian filly is likely to be ridden from the front here and she should be able to dominate this field, especially if blinkers help her to put it all in. King Of Rhythm is fairly reliable and should run his race for Daniel Tudhope now back from injury, whilst Deadline is exposed and place money must be the best hope. Optical Illusion looks the main threat to the selection; he cost $200,000 and whilst that doesn't guarantee anything, he must be expected to put up a bold show here, especially as a step back up in trip looks a good move. Ashmal though is fancied to win.
