Verdict

In a race which may not take too much winning, the Godolphin colt Potent Heir is taken to make a winning debut, with Musahim and Antonio Stradivari the pick of those with race experience. The last named hails from Andrew Balding's stable and has been slowly away on both starts so far, but this speedily bred colt seems capable of much better if getting away on terms. Musahim, trained by Barry Hills, was not knocked about when seventh in a Newmarket maiden on his debut and this Dixieland Band colt should improve significantly for that. Come On Johnny was third in a modest race at Thirsk last time and should not be discounted, but this does look to be an ideal opportunity for Potent Heir. Saeed Bin Suroor has been churning out a string of juvenile winners all year, and this US-bred colt, who is a full brother to a couple of very smart sprinters in the States, seems sure to know his job. Potent Heir cost 475,000 dollars as a yearling and he can start to repay that purchase price now.
